Annual wall dedication and harley ride
1) When did you first get into Harleys? Who introduced you to the biking scene?
In the 70's, when I was a wild and crazy chick. I worked at a biker bar and rode bitch every chance I got, the whole scene was exciting to me, In the 80's I got to ride solo for the first time and found out it was much better too be in the front instead of the back.
2) How long have you been riding?
Off and on since the 70's.
3) Where are some of the places you have gone on your bike?
My longest ride was to Detroit Michigan. I was in my 20's then and it was one of the best adventures of my life, I was only going to be gone a short time and wound up staying for 5 years. The upper pennisula of Michigan is so beautiful and more breath taking on a bike. A group of us went to Sturgis in 1997, we trailered the bikes, but rode all over S. Dakota for a whole week, one of the biggest parties I have ever been to. I have been all over New Mexico and riding in the mountains is awesome, the smells and scenery............no words to describe. And of course the Texas panhandle.
4) Being a woman who rides a Harley, what kind of responses have you gotten from people?
Lots of people, especially men, hoot and holler, the women think it is cool...You go girl is a popular response. Some men say....that's just not right!!
5) What is your typical riding gear?
My leather jacket or vest, jeans, gloves, sunglasses for in town or goggles on the open road, boots, I do not wear a helmet.
6) When you jump on your bike for a ride, what’s one thing you would never leave behind?
My cell phone.
7) What do most people not know about Harleys?
It is a lot easier to ride than you think. Most women think they are hard to hold up, not so.
8) How do you incorporate your hobby of biking into your everyday life?
I don't get to ride as much as I would like to, now in my late 40's I have too many other responsibilities to ride every day, and my dog goes with me to work so I have to take the car, but the weekends are mine!
9) What’s your best memory associated with riding?
That's a tough one, being on the open rode in the Texas panhandle and seeing the sun set behind me and the moon rise before me!!! Way cool.................
